MEET MICAH WILLIAM SCHOLES

CREATOR // SCHOLÉ YOGA
DEAN // SCHOLÉ YOGA UNIVERSITY
FOUNDER // LOTUSLEGAL

As a licensed attorney for well over a decade, Guardian ad Litem, and the Founder of LOTUSLEGAL, Micah has worked with and for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office, the Utah Guardian ad Litem's Office, the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, the Rocky Mountain Innocence Center, the ACLU, the Utah Association of Collaborative Professionals, the Utah Council on Conflict Resolution, and numerous other governmental and nonprofit organizations that protect and serve the underprivileged and marginalized.

In his role as a Guardian ad Litem, Micah represents abused and neglected children in high-conflict divorce cases. He is trauma-informed and trained to expertly deal with challenging cases that involve domestic violence, personality disorders, and child abuse. He is AFCC Informed and a member of the Utah Association of Collaborative Professionals. Micah loves court and has appeared hundreds of times statewide before every commissioner and most Judges. Although he thrives in the high-pressure environment of the courtroom, he knows it is not always the best way to resolve disputes, particularly when children are involved. With that in mind, Micah approaches every case as a “Peaceful Warrior,” endeavoring to resolve most matters through polite but firm negotiation and mediation. As a result, his current settlement rate is well over 90%.

A consummate student, Micah has four college degrees, including a Doctorate in Jurisprudence, and well over 15,000 hours of training and study in mindfulness, including a personal authorization to teach Ashtanga from the legendary Manju Jois himself. As a yoga teacher of teachers, Micah has also shared the power of mindfulness with tens of thousands of students worldwide and personally certified well over 500 teachers. He is also an experienced competitive pistol shooter, athlete, and coach, and is proud to teach Pistol Marksmanship at the University of Utah, his alma mater. In his spare time, he enjoys anything that gets him outside and connected to nature, especially surfing, sailing, scuba diving, and other outdoor adventures.
